Environment Policy

Hanson Plywood follows a path of sustainable development by way of creating a balance between the economic, environmental and social aspects of our business.


Hanson Plywood continuously strives to improve its environmental performance in terms of both its product and processes ensuring that it supports all efforts to preserve the environment.

The company has signed up and agreed to the Timber Trades Federation, ‘Responsible Purchasing Policy’ which involves:

  • a Company Policy, with environmental commitments towards procurement;
  • Risk Assessment evaluating suppliers ability to support company policy on environment;
  • Encouragement of an audit to ensure compliance to the policy and to continually improve the companies’ commitment.

Fundamental to this are staff who are aware of current legislative requirements applicable to waste disposal, energy consumption, health and safety and are actively involved in ensuring the company is fully compliant in all areas.

The company has achieved F.S.C (Forest Stewardship Council) as well as PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes) certification and registration and aims to continue to promote the use of materials that are certified with this mark. The company currently stocks materials from a number of F.S.C. & PEFC certified suppliers.
